Carpet Mart Online Estimate Privacy Notice
This online estimator is designed to help you obtain a preliminary flooring estimate based on information you provide about your project.
We may collect information you choose to provide, including your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, project details, room information, and photographs you upload.
Photos and image analysis
If you upload room photographs, they may be processed by an artificial intelligence service to help estimate room dimensions and identify visible flooring-related details.
We remove embedded image metadata, such as EXIF information that may contain device, date, or location information, before any image is sent for analysis.
Please upload photographs of the room only. Avoid including people, faces, mail, documents, computer screens, addresses, financial information, medical information, or other personal or sensitive information in your photos.
Uploaded images are automatically screened for personal information, such as people, readable mail or documents, screens, and vehicle license plates or house numbers. The screening is done by the third-party artificial intelligence service, so an image is sent to that service before it is screened. If an image appears to contain clearly identifiable personal information, we remove it and use your other photographs for the estimate. If all of your photographs are removed, we ask you to upload photographs that show only the room.
Images removed by this screening are discarded. They are not attached to sales emails or kept in our business systems.
Automated screening is not perfect. Images with small or unreadable personal items, such as distant framed photographs or papers that cannot be read, may not be removed. You are responsible for reviewing photographs before uploading them and for avoiding unnecessary personal or sensitive information.
How we use your information
Information you provide may be used to:
- generate your flooring estimate;
- analyze room photographs;
- send estimate information to you;
- send lead information to Carpet Mart staff;
- improve the estimator and understand how customers use it;
- troubleshoot errors and maintain the security of the service.
We do not intend to use uploaded photographs for purposes unrelated to your flooring estimate.
Artificial intelligence processing
Certain information, including sanitized room photographs and limited project details, may be sent to a third-party artificial intelligence service for analysis. The service does not use this information to train its models. It may keep it for a limited period under its own terms, for example to monitor for abuse.
Your name, email address, phone number and ZIP code are not included in the AI image-analysis request. Your project description is sent with your photographs, so please do not include personal information in it.
AI-generated measurements and observations are estimates only and may be inaccurate. Final measurements, product selections, pricing, and installation requirements should be confirmed separately.
Data retention
We seek to retain only the information reasonably necessary to provide the estimate, communicate with you, operate the service, and meet legitimate business or legal requirements.
Some information may be held temporarily in application memory during your session. Certain operational or event information may also be recorded for security, troubleshooting, and usage analysis. Records of photo analysis contain counts and categories only, such as how many photos were removed, never the photos or what they showed. To detect misuse, we record your IP address with the date and time of each photo analysis, and may include it in an internal alert if unusual activity is detected. These records are kept for 30 days and then deleted.
Our retention practices may change as the estimator is further integrated with Carpet Mart systems.
If you request or complete an estimate, information you provide may be included in emails sent to you and to appropriate Carpet Mart personnel.
Room photographs that are not removed by our image screening may also be attached to internal sales communications when needed to assist with your project.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information processed by this service. No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices
You may choose not to upload photographs and, where available, provide room measurements manually instead.
You should not submit information or images that you do not want processed as part of your flooring estimate.
Changes to this notice
This privacy notice may be updated as the estimator and its data-handling practices evolve.
